Letter to the Editor: ‘Hands Off’ supporters advocating ‘Hands On’

Dear editor,

I don’t understand how you start out so right with something and then go so wrong. The supporters of “Hands Off” are actually advocating “Hands On.”

They are so absolutely right when they say that members of our community and our organizations, when working together, have the power to create the “world you’d like to live in.” That is “Hands On” to me. Why hasn’t that happened? Answer: Our tax money went to Washington.

And then they complain because they think Trump and Musk are destroying the Obama and Biden bloated, expensive government paid for by our higher taxes and deficit system that was supposed to create “the world you’d like to live in” FOR US. Instead, Obama and Biden are indeed living in a far better world, with millions and millions of dollars, some of which are ours, thanks to the likes of China, Russia, the Clintons, and Hunter Biden.

Obama and Biden had control of the government for 12 years, and where is that “world you’d like to live in” for us? They gave our tax money to other countries. We were not as important as other countries.

Doesn’t anyone realize that the federal government steals (taxes) our hard-earned dollars and then “gives” it back to us with their rules and regulations and restrictions when it would be far better and more efficient (Why pay them to do our job?) for us to work together as a community to build our own “world we like to live in?”

To teach our children what we think is best, rather than the Washington fantasyland stuff. Who should be responsible for how our community is run and built? Washington or us? When we stand together in our community, “Hands Off” is right; we are powerful.

Yes, change always temporarily hurts someone who has to make the transition. I don’t know about others, but a forced change in my life has always resulted in a better situation.

Change is required if we are to improve the future, and it always has been. Let’s support the changes going on in Washington right now.

Tell Washington: start doing your constitutional job, and we will do ours. I am all for “Hands Off” our money and our community.
