I know it’s hard to believe, but Christmas is just around the corner. The campaign for the 2025 Greene County Christmas Stocking Fund (GCCSF) has begun. We are excited to be co-chairing the GCCSF again this year, and with your help, we look forward to another successful season.
Last year, our community distributed $100 food vouchers, warm clothing items, and beautiful toys to 380 children and their families, as well as $100 food vouchers, hygiene products, socks, and more to 295 senior citizens. In addition to these applicants, we were able to share toys with other local organizations/ neighborhoods like Pete Nance Boys and Girls Club, Circle of Love Domestic Violence Shelter, Greene County DFCS, Good Shepherd Hispanic Church, Union Point Fire Department, Allen Valley Housing, and Pool Road Housing. We were also able to share some fun summer toys w Victory Train, ATLAS and Headstart.
Your donations are used to support a great local cause. Here are some key points about GCCSF:
• Not-For-Profit, 501 (c) (3)organization — all volunteer operation, no paid employees
• Funded 100% by private donations — NO Greene County Government funding
• Low expenses allow us to allocate over 95% of all donations to support our families
• Serves families with children 13 years old and younger, and senior citizens 62 and over. Total expenditures expected to be $45,000 this year to purchase $100 food vouchers for each family/senior citizen, as well as some warm clothing items
• With 40 collection sites/events around Greene County, we appreciate the more than 1000 new, unwrapped toys donated each year
• All applications are verified and income evaluated using federal poverty guidelines. Once again, we are asking for your generosity in making Christmas a little brighter for those in our community who are in need.
