Dear Citizens,

I, Chief Rodricus Monford Sr, as the Chief of Police, humbly apologize for the recent mistake made in the news article regarding Mr. Tyson Cherod Waller, 18, of Eatonton. It has come to my attention that the information provided was inaccurate and does not reflect the values of honesty and transparency that we strive to uphold within our department.

It was reported to all media outlets that Waller was arrested in the shooting incident that took place on March 3, 2024. Waller was not charged with any crime involving this incident, only questioned. Due to press times of local media, GPD was not able to stop the press releases in time for release.

I understand what kind of impact this may have caused Mr. Tyson Waller and his family, and I would like to take full responsibility for this misunderstanding and extend my sincerest apologies to Waller and whomever this may have affected.

We understand the importance of accurate reporting, especially when it comes to matters concerning public safety and law enforcement. The dissemination of incorrect information can erode trust within our community and undermine our efforts to serve and protect.

I take full responsibility for this oversight and assure you that steps are being taken to prevent similar errors from occurring in the future. We are committed to providing the public with factual and reliable information at all times.

Please accept my sincerest apologies for any confusion or concern this may have caused. We value the trust you have placed in us, and we will continue working tirelessly to uphold the highest standards of integrity and accountability.

Thank you for your understanding.

Sincerely, Rodricus Monford Sr., Chief of Police Greensboro Police Department
