Shoppers face charges after Sunflower fight in Morgan County

Warrants have been issued for the arrest of two Madison residents following a violent altercation that occurred Aug. 2.

Jimquaves Cyve Hunter, 32, and Yquonna Scarebrook (no age listed) face battery charges following a pair of incidents at the Sunflower Store on Eatonton Road.

According to reports, Officer Justin Ives was dispatched to Morgan Medical Center and met with Scarebrook, who told him she had a physical altercation with her “baby daddy” after she refused to get out of her car. She said Hunter then hit her in the head with a liquor bottle. The fight continued and spilled out into the parking lot.

Scarebrook said she wanted to press charges.

Two hours later, Ives was sent to MMC again in reference to someone who had been stabbed. The victim of the stabbing turned out to be Hunter, who had a “moderately deep cut the width of a quarter on his left elbow.”

Hunter told Ives he wasn’t sure who stabbed him because four people jumped him at the Sunflower Store.

When asked about the injury to Scarebrook, he denied striking her and said he threw the bottle of liquor away.

Ives returned to the Sunflower Store and looked at security footage that showed a red SUV pull into the parking lot directly in front of Hunter.

According to the report, Scarebrook exited the passenger side of the SUV along with the driver and two other unidentified Black males who ran toward Hunter.

During the fight, Hunter and Scarebrook wound up grappling to the ground with Hunter punching Scarebrook in the head.

Due to the injuries to both subjects, testimony, and surveillance footage, the decision was made to charge both with battery.
