Jonathan Douglas Echols, 42, of Rutledge, was arrested on charges of aggravated assault, battery on a pregnant female, and battery under the family violence statute after an incident that occurred on June 22 on Estes Road.
According to reports, Echols allegedly hit a woman in the back of the head with an unknown blunt object during an argument.
The woman lost consciousness briefly and was later taken to Morgan Medical Center for treatment.
The woman stated that Echols had previously damaged her phone, rendering her unable to use her bank and credit cards. As a result, she had been unable to leave Echols’ residence.
The woman told Deputy Thomas Wesley that Echols had left the residence and gone to his sister’s house next door.
Nobody came to the door when deputies attempted to make contact with Echols, but they did see a juvenile in the rear window of the house.
After the victim was released from the hospital, Wesley took her back to the Estes Road residence so she could retrieve her vehicle to return to Auburn, Georgia. Still, she didn’t have a functioning key to the vehicle.
One of the tires had also been slashed. She was later taken to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office to stay the night.
Echols was arrested on the morning of June 24 as he was on his way to work by deputies who recognized his car.
Echols will also be charged with criminal trespass for slashing the tire.
