Shades of Contrast comes to Madison Artists Guild

The opening reception for Madison Artists Guild’s “Shades of Contrast” was held last Friday evening following the Guild’s annual meeting.

The exhibit is a popular one for the members, and 29 area artists contributed dramatic works to prove that, in the absence of color, art can be bold, expressive, and profoundly moving. This show invites you to step into a world without color, where contrast, texture, and form take center stage — a world that celebrates the power of monochrome in 2D and 3D art.

The Madison Artists Guild presents ‘Shades of Contrast’ in support of the Guild’s mission of presenting outside artists to its community and encouraging artistic endeavors. MAGallery, run by the Guild, showcases the original work of local and regional artists and authors throughout the year.

Highlights of the reception included music by MaCayla Hodges and food from Harvest & Honey.

Also on display were the works of students in the Morgan County Alternative School’s 2025 Art for Life program. Their photographs are for sale, with 70% of the proceeds going directly to the artist and 30% to the Art for Life program, which the Madison Artists Guild runs.

The gallery is open Monday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is located at 125 W. Jefferson St., Madison.
