Mixed media show opens at MAGallery

MAGallery is bringing Atlanta artist Robert Miller to its gallery in a special exhibition of abstract works that are both recognizable and open to interpretation.

Miller’s art has evolved over the last twenty years as his artistic style transitioned from collage to mixed media. Still, his goal has remained the same: to create work that feels relatable and understandable.

MAGallery will host a catered reception celebrating All Over the Pallet on Friday, March 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. The reception will include a meet-and-greet with Miller, sips and bites from The Caboose, and live music with Terry and Jami Brayley. Frank Walsh sponsors the exhibition, which officially opens to the public on Thursday, March 13, and will remain at MAGallery through April 19.

Miller has roots tracing back to a farm in Dahlonega.

Working from his studio, which is housed in a historic church in the Virginia Highlands neighborhood of Atlanta, Miller embraces an organic and intuitive style that he describes as “moving beyond structured techniques taught in workshops and classes.”

Miller’s work is created from the position of simplicity and clarity, with subjects that are familiar and recognizable — landscapes, portraits, flowers — even when abstracted. Many works feature hand-painted papers enriched with unconventional elements such as old maps and vintage photographs.

Miller is the second of numerous special exhibitions hosted by MAGallery throughout 2025. Each exhibition introduces established or emerging artists to the Madison/Morgan County community in the gallery’s professionally designed gallery space.

In addition to offering rotating exhibitions, the gallery showcases the original works of local and regional artists and authors on an ongoing basis.

Madison Artists Guild, which oversees the gallery’s operations, is a nonprofit membership organization dedicated to education and encouragement of artistic endeavor in its community.
