Thieves break into four cars, steal one of them

MORGAN COUNTY

Two unidentified individuals went on an entering-auto binge in the early morning hours of Oct. 15 at the Holiday Inn parking lot in Madison. At the end of the binge, the pair had hit four cars and made off with one.

According to reports, Officer Reese Hasel was dispatched to the hotel at around 6 a.m. regarding a stolen vehicle. The complainant said his 2012 Dodge truck was stolen from the parking lot. Surveillance video footage was not much help, but it did show the truck’s tail lights illuminating at 2:25 a.m.

Moments later, the truck drove away.

According to reports, the thief gained access by shattering the rear passenger window.

While Hasel was investigating the stolen truck, he learned that another truck had been broken into in the same parking lot.

In this case, the truck was parked in front of the only camera with a good view of the incident.

In the footage, the first suspect, wearing a black and white camo hoodie and pants, walks away from the truck and walks back with the second suspect, who is wearing a black hoodie, blue jeans, black and white Nike shoes, and green gloves.

The second then raises an object to the window and breaks it. He climbs through the window and is seen handing a white box and another object to his partner, who puts the items in his pocket. Both suspects walk off-camera.

The owner of the third vehicle involved in the spree said his back passenger-side window had been broken, and a pack of cigarettes, a key chain, and $100 were stolen.

According to the report, the fourth vehicle hit also had its window broken, but nothing was missing.
