Dear Editor,
There are numerous alarming proposals in Trump’s Project 2025.
As a veteran (who is NOT a “sucker and loser,” as Trump says), I find the proposals for making changes in our military dangerous.
These changes include giving Trump the power to:
1) fire flag officers so he may “clear out” top officers who refuse to follow any order he deems illegal.
2) freeze promotions (unless one is a MAGA loyalist).
3) eliminate diversity programs, inhibiting our soldiers from working as a team.
4) reinstate discharged vaccine refusers in an attempt to radicalize our fighting force.
5) invoke the Insurrection Act to allow the military to shoot protestors.
These are horrible ideas.
Many military personnel, even the most strident, conservative Republicans among them, are pushing back against this clear power grab. Is this the kind of country we want?
We are moving toward a dictatorship.
I REJECT Trump and these policies with my vote.
