A pair of Morgan men were so pleased with the tools they stole from Madison’s Lowes department store that they went back and stole more three days later.
The two men allegedly stole more than $750 in merchandise during two separate shoplifting incidents on Sept. 10 and Sept. 13.
According to reports, Joshua Shane Slaughter, 30, of Madison, and Jerrod Melentez Morgan, 28, of Madison, entered the store on Sept. 10 and stole a Husqvarna 28cc hand blower valued at $199, a Craftsman 30cc weed whacker valued at $249, and a bag of potting soil valued at $4.48.
Sgt. Stacy Eaton of the Madison Police Department later observed the two men on surveillance footage as they left the store without paying for the items.
The two men returned to Lowes on Sept. 13 and stole a Metabo miter saw valued at $119 and a Skil Mag Gear Worm Skillsaw valued at $199. Following that incident, Eaton saw footage of the two men leaving the store without paying for the items as well.
Eaton went to 441 Pawn on Eatonton Road and learned that Slaughter and Morgan pawned the four stolen items, excluding the bag of potting soil, for a total of $245.
The tools were returned to Lowes. According to Sgt. Wes Thompson of the Madison Police Department, the two men remained at large as of Oct. 1.
