On Saturday, Sept. 14, Morgan County Fire Rescue will hold a live fire training exercise at 1011 Speed Lane, Madison. The event will begin at approximately 8 a.m. and conclude at approximately 4 p.m.
During this event, multiple fire apparatus will operate on Georgia State Highway 83 between Tamplin Road and Sandy Creek Road, shuttling water for fire suppression operations. SR 83 will not be shut down for this event; however, we ask that you exercise caution in the area.
The area will be extensively smoke-filled due to this being a live fire training exercise. The Georgia Forestry Commission and the State of Georgia Department of Natural Resources Environmental Division have authorized and permitted this exercise.
All live fire training activities will be in accordance with NFPA 1403.
