Early on Labor Day morning, Morgan County Fire Rescue was dispatched to a house fire in Bostwick's Price Mill Road area.
According to Fire Chief Garret Smith, Morgan County 911 received the call at approximately 2:20 a.m. Fire stations 1, 3, 6, and 16 were assigned to the initial call, with units from Fire Station 3 in Bostwick and Fire Station 16 in Madison arriving first on the scene.
Battalion Chief Josh Tinseth was the first to arrive and advised of smoke and flames coming from a residential structure. Tinseth reported that all occupants were out of the home and accounted for, and he requested an all-county page for water tenders and manpower.
As Engine 3 from Bostwick and Engine 16 from Madison arrived on the scene, an initial attack line was deployed. Smith said firefighters made an aggressive interior attack and controlled the fire quickly.
Apparatus and firefighters from FS1 (Apalachee), FS2 (Central), FS3 (Bostwick), FS4 (Buckhead), FS5 (Godfrey), FS6 (Fairplay), FS7 (Clacks Chapel), FS8 (Bethany), FS9 (Rutledge) and FS12 (West Road) responded to the incident. Smith noted that four career and 21 volunteer firefighters were able to handle the incident in just under three hours.
Smith says the cause of the fire is currently under investigation and believed to be unintentional.
