I’ve never been one to voice my opinion publicly on political issues, but I am fed up and afraid. So, let me get straight to the point. America has to make a choice. Will we continue to live in a democracy that has served us well for 250 years, or shall we let one person dictate change?
I consider myself an independent, and I try to identify with candidates who demonstrate integrity, ability, and love of country. In the current presidential race, there is only one – Kamala Harris.
Maybe I am so anti-Donald Trump because of his recent assault on our Georgia governor, Brian Kemp, his insult of America’s military, and his frightful comments concerning future elections. Let me point out some of his remarks.
One, Governor Kemp recently did not attend a fundraiser and Georgia rally for Mr. Trump. So, in return, Trump was quoted as saying, “Kemp is a bad guy. He’s disloyal and he’s a very average governor. Little Brian Kemp.”
How dare Trump attack our governor in such language? I would simply say, “Thank you, Mr. Kemp, for standing up to Mr. Trump when he tried to overturn the election results in the last presidential election.”
On several occasions, Mr. Trump has taken the opportunity to throw insults at the Medal of Honor, stating that civilian recognition is much more important than military recognition. What a slap in the face to our military.
Third, and last, in a recent speech to supporters in South Florida, Mr. Trump stated, “Vote for me for president, and I promise you will never have to vote again.” Maybe he didn’t mean that, but it didn’t sit well with me. Given the events of January 6th, he may have said exactly what he intended.
The bottom line, Donald Trump scares me. I can’t vote for him. And if you were a Georgian active or former military, or if you just love America, then you shouldn’t vote for him either.
