Dear Editor,
I have no idea what the BOC was thinking when they wasted $1.1 million on plans to build a horse barn judicial system 1.7 miles away. Away from the heartbeat of Greensboro, where you want people to come and have fun spending money in the county. The decision should have been easy.
1. The oldest operating courthouse in Georgia had to be fixed or torn down. Tearing it down would kill Greensboro. Surely, they were not thinking about doing that?
2. So fix the courthouse and do it right. No patchwork. Make Perry Mason and us proud to be in there.
That $1.1 million would have gone a long way toward doing just that.
3. Sprucing up some of the vacant buildings around the courthouse and building a parking deck would add space, sparkle, and money to the city and county.
Would the multi-million-dollar rodeo building do that?
4. The problems of a dilapidated courthouse in the county center would remain there with judicial operations in the Rodeo building.
Does this make the decision simple enough?
PS. Don’t use that expensive architectural firm again.
