Bruzze Brewing presents classic car show

PUTNAM COUNTY

The first-ever Bruzze Brewing Classic Car Show was a huge hit, based on the lack of available parking places just 30 minutes after the event began.

Classic car aficionados and those looking for something cold to drink on another sweltering Georgia summer day came in droves last Saturday to peruse Lincolns, Corvettes, classic pickups, and even a Volkswagen Beetle that had all been brought to the Scott Road craft brewery.

Bruzze owners Peggy Teufel and Michael Abbruzzese said they decided to hold the car show to celebrate the life of the iconic Jerry Smith, who once owned dozens of classic cars and operated the classic car museum in the same space the brewery now occupies.

“We thought it would be great to have a car event here to honor Jerry Smith,” Teufel said. “Everybody here knows Jerry Smith and that he was a car collector.”

Ironically, Teufel and Abbruzzese never had an opportunity to peruse the cars in Jerry Smith’s museum because it was never open when they dropped by.

But in a way, the car museum was open again on Saturday afternoon and evening, allowing everyone to wander back to a time when nobody thought about electric cars or carbon footprints.
