OPAS Memorial Day celebration free for kids

GREENE COUNTY

The Oconee Performing Arts Society (OPAS) is once more presenting its Memorial Day Weekend Patriotic Celebration, and this year is expanding its reach by including more activities for families, complete with complimentary tickets for children aged 10 and under, allowing them to witness the magic of live performances firsthand.

“We are thrilled to invite families to join us to celebrate patriotism and community spirit this Memorial Day weekend,” OPAS Board Chair Margie Eddy Forbes said. “By offering complimentary tickets for young children and providing family-friendly activities, we hope to create lasting memories and inspire a new generation of arts enthusiasts.”

Set against a backdrop of patriotism and community spirit, the OPAS Memorial Day Weekend Patriotic Celebration aims to provide a meaningful experience for all attendees. In addition to stirring melodies and heartfelt tributes to our nation's heroes featuring Atlanta Braves soloist Timothy Miller, the audience will be treated to the sounds of American legends Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Tina Turner, Patti LaBelle, and Alicia Keys.

Families can look forward to various activities designed to entertain and engage children of all ages. From face painting to a bounce house to Kona Ice Treats, there will be no shortage of excitement for little ones. For many children, this event will mark their first encounter with the enchanting sounds of a symphony orchestra, opening up an entire world of creativity and imagination.

The Memorial Day Weekend Patriotic Celebration will be held at The Farm at Oconee (1140 Oconee Heights Ln., Greensboro) on Saturday, May 25, with gates open at 5:30 p.m. for a 7 p.m. concert start.

Tickets are available for purchase online now at opas.org. Don’t miss this opportunity to honor our nation’s heroes while creating cherished memories with your loved ones.
