Dear Editor,
In 1997 my wife, Margie Eddy Forbes, and I moved to Reynolds Plantation from Southern California. I was an attorney in Los Angeles for over forty five years and Margie was Executive Vice President of U.S. Trust. Although we moved here for retirement, we soon became active in the community serving on the board of the Hospital, Board of Equalization, Rotary Club, Friends of the Library and others. In 2008 I was appointed as a Judge of the Magistrate Court of Greene County.
Over the years we developed a great appreciation of the traditions of this community and an admiration of those serving as leaders. The recent articles in the July 20 edition of The Herald Journal relating to the movement of the Courthouse to the “horse park” was a complete and unwelcome surprise.
We have a beautiful Courthouse and one of the oldest in the state and it should not be moved from the center of the town without the knowledge and consent of the residents. An Economic Impact Report should be prepared and a public hearing held concerning this important issue.
Sincerely, Chuck Forbes
