Woodville man scuffles with law enforcement

GREENE COUNTY

A Greene County man was arrested in Madison on March 29 in the wake of a domestic incident.

Justin Demond Nesbitt, 34, of Woodville has been charged with three counts of obstruction, public intoxication, disorderly conduct and pedestrian under the influence of alcohol.

According to reports, Officer Tyler Finch was dispatched to a Carmichael Drive address and found an intoxicated Nesbitt walking down the street.

As a possible solution to the domestic incident, Finch told Nesbitt to go to a relative’s house and stay there until he sobered up. Nesbitt was also advised that if he was caught out again, he would be arrested.

Finch spoke with the female involved and returned to the relative’s house to speak with Nesbitt. The relative advised Finch that Nesbitt had left her house. Finch found Nesbitt walking toward a local motel and arrested him for public intoxication and pedestrian under the influence.

Nesbitt resisted briefly as Finch and Officer Justin Mills were trying to get him into Finch’s patrol unit, knocking Finch’s radio off his chest and turning off his body camera, according to the report.

However, Mills and Finch were able to get Nesbitt to the car without further incident. Finch said he turned the body camera back on as soon as he noticed it was not recording.

When Morgan County Deputy Robert Lilyander began removing Nesbitt’s bracelets as part of the booking process at the jail, Nesbitt said the law enforcement officers could not take his bracelets.

Nesbitt pulled away from Lilyander and fled into the booking room.

Finch, Lilyander and Deputy Ryan Saye attempted to subdue Nesbitt, who pulled away from Lilyander and attempted to hit him, according to the report.

Nesbitt then assumed a fighting stance against the three law enforcement officers, but the officers and deputies were able to take control of the situation and put Nesbitt in handcuffs and leg irons.

Both Lilyander and Finch lost body cameras during the fight, according to the report.

Charges of obstruction and disorderly conduct were added due to Nesbitt’s behavior at the jail.
