A Madison man was arrested Aug. 16 after allegedly threatening a convenience store operator with a razor.
Brandon Tobias Justers, 39, of Madison, is charged with terroristic threats and acts and obstruction.
According to reports obtained from the Madison Police Department, Sgt. Travis Stubbs was dispatched to the Texaco at 163 N. Main St. at 2:40 a.m. after receiving a report that a man was punching the store’s windows.
Stubbs made contact with the store operator. Justers then emerged from a small wooded area north of the business and began yelling at the store operator, according to the report.
Stubbs and Officer Dabry Dulaney approached Justers and noted a strong odor of alcohol. Stubbs asked Justers for his identification or name, but Justers became defiant and said he was not required to comply. Stubbs then asked Justers to place his hands behind his back so he could be detained. Justers resisted by flailing his arms and pulling away, according to the report.
Stubbs and Dulaney eventually placed Justers in handcuffs and arrested him. Justers continued to resist as officers placed him into a patrol vehicle. He was then transported to the Morgan County Jail.
Stubbs reviewed the store’s surveillance video and audio and reported that Justers could be heard making direct and specific threats toward the store operator, according to the report.
Among the statements Justers allegedly made were, “I’m holding a razor in my hand,” and “I’m fixing to cut your jaw loose.”
