Kids Bike League hosting week-long Summer Bicycling Camp in Greensboro

The Georgia Hi-Lo Trail is bringing its Kids Bike League program to Greene County this summer.

During the week of June 27 - July 1, kids ages three years old to high school will learn bicycle skills, from beginner level with a balance bike all the way to advanced level skills for kids interested in exploring being a part of a local youth mountain biking team.

“Kids Bike League brings coaches to Greene County with 20 years of experience coaching youth on bikes.” Explains Mary Charles Howard, the Executive Director of the Georgia Hi-Lo Trail. ”We’ve brought on the BRAG (Bike Ride Across Georgia) Dream Team’s coaches to coach this summer’s bicycle camp for kids. This means these kids will have the best of the best coaches and mentors by their side.”

For nearly two decades, the BRAG Dream Team has “focused on providing growth and learning experiences for youth through mentorship and cycling.”

BRAG coaches will bring this skill to train the children of Kids Bike League on how to mountain bike with confidence and safety above everything.

In addition to bicycle coaches, a naturalist will be on staff during camp to teach the kids how to safely navigate the outdoors. Naturalists will teach lessons about the Georgia landscape including identification and safety for ticks, snakes & poisonous plants.

The Greensboro camp will be hosted at the Greene County Recreation Department at 2741 Old Union Point Road, Greensboro, Georgia.

For the week, the camp provides a daily meal, bikes, and helmets for each camper for $75. Scholarships are available for a $5 application fee.

Kids can be registered for camp at www. kidsbikeleague.org. Call Mary Charles Howard at 706-338-8054 to register or with questions about this summer camp.

Kids Bike League will have a year-round presence in Greene County as Kids Bike League offers summer camp, winter camp and monthly trail workdays.
