Terry Lawler and Jason Easley were separated by just 16 votes in the May 19 primary for the District 1 seat on the Greene County Board of Commissioners, but Lawler won by 27 votes in the runoff, tallying 570 votes to Easley's 543.
Since no Democrats qualified for the post, Lawler will replace Angela Deering on the board.
Dee Lindsey is running unopposed in District 3.
The District 1 seat on the Greene County Board of Education will be decided in November when Republican Steve Kilgore and Democrat Kristine Mapp face off on the ballot.
Democrat Regina Chester ran unopposed for the District 3 Board of Education seat.
In Morgan County, incumbent Republican Blake McCormack cruised to an easy victory in the primary and will remain the District 2 commissioner since no Democrats qualified.
Democrat Carl Jones is running unopposed for the District 1 seat.
Republican Andrew Ainslie III ran unopposed for the District 4 seat on the Morgan County Board of Education, as did Cory Seymour in District 5.
Republican Brett Dunn and Democrat Eric W. Lee both ran unopposed for the District 42 seat in the Georgia House of Representatives.
Republican Brett Mauldin won the District 114 seat in the Georgia House primary with 78% of the vote. He will face Democrat Michael Caw in the general election.
The District 124 seat in the Georgia House will be decided in November when incumbent Republican Trey Rhodes faces challenger Melanie Miller.
Republican Houston Gaines won the Republican primary for the District 10 seat in the U.S. House of Representatives and will face Democratic nominee Pam Delancy in the general election.
Statewide
Republican Mike Collins won the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate with 55% of the vote over Derek Dooley and will challenge incumbent Democrat Jon Ossoff in November. The race was closer in Morgan County, where Collins won by just 111 votes.
Endorsements from President Donald Trump and outgoing Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp did not help Lt. Gov. Burt Jones secure the Republican nomination for governor. Rick Jackson garnered 52.65% of the vote and will face Democrat Keisha Lance Bottoms in November.
Jackson's margin of victory was only 20 votes in Morgan County and 74 votes in Greene County.
Greg Dolezal defeated John F. Kennedy to secure the Republican nomination for lieutenant governor with 54% of the vote. Kennedy carried both Morgan and Greene counties.
On the Democratic side, Josh McLaurin defeated Nabilah Parkes with nearly 55% of the vote. Almost 67% of Greene County voters chose McLaurin.
Republican Tim Fleming cruised to an easy victory over Vernon Jones for the Republican nomination for secretary of state with 65% of the vote. Penny Brown won the Democratic nomination with 63% of the vote. Fleming was the overwhelming choice among Morgan County voters, receiving nearly 76%.
Keisha Sean Waites won the Democratic nomination for insurance commissioner by defeating DeAndre Mathis with nearly 59% of the vote. Waites will now challenge incumbent Republican John King in November.
Incumbent Republican Richard Woods narrowly defeated Fred "Bubba" Longgrear to earn the Republican nomination for state school superintendent with 51.49% of the vote. He will face Democrat Lydia Powell in the general election.
Nikki Porcher defeated Michi Sanchez for the Democratic nomination for labor commissioner and will face incumbent Republican Barbara Rivera Holmes in the general election.
In the Public Service Commission District 5 race, Josh Tolbert received nearly 60% of the vote to defeat Bobby Mehan. He will face Sheila Edwards in the general election.
A recount has been ordered in the District 3 Public Service Commission race, according to Morgan County Elections Director Jennifer Doran. Republican Fitz Johnson appeared to have won his party's nomination for the District 3 seat, but his margin of victory over Brandon Martin was less than one-half of 1%.
“The recount will start on Tuesday, June 23, at 9 a.m. and continue until complete,” according to a release from the Morgan County Board of Elections and Registration. “The recount will be held at the Morgan County Board of Elections and Registration Office, 237 N. Second St., Madison. The public is welcome to observe.”
