After two successful seasons came to an end, multiple Lake Oconee Academ soccer players from both the boys and girls teams were awarded All-Region honors.
Highlighted by GHSA Class A-Public State Player of the Year Kyle Beasley, th boys’ team tallied seven total All-Regio honors while the Lady Titans received three.
Jada Williams, who was also a part of Lake Oconee Academy’s state championship basketball team, earned First Team All-Region honors for her role as a defender on the pitch. Williams is accompanied by freshman Victoria Goubran, who was recognized as a forward on the All-Region First Team.
Lauren Glass was the only midfielder selected from the Lady Titans’ squad earning Second Team All-Region honors to complete the season.
Head coach Jacob Baxley believes earning these honors is even more impressive given the level of competition his girls faced.
“We competed in the toughest region in all of Class A-Public by far. There are several great teams and players, so for them to be recognized and voted for by coaches of this region is no minor honor,” Baxley said. “These three girls were cornerstones of our team, and I’m very proud of each of them.”
Furthermore, boys’ head coach Conner Domaleski fielded four First Team All-Region players, two Second Team All-Region players and one All-Region Honorable Mention from their team that went to the Final Four of the GHSA State Tournament earlier this year.
Midfielder Kyle Beasley was recognized as the Region 8A-Public Player of the Year as well as a First Team All-Region player. He was also accompnied by sophomore Leo Perez, freshma Knox van Mol and senior Gavin Minste on the first All-Region team.
Freshman forward Palmer Larkin was joined by junior midfielder Jefferson Amaya in receiving Second Team All-Region Honors, and sophomore defender Fernando Patino was an All-Region Honorable Mention.
These seven guys played an instrumental role in Lake Oconee Academy’s deep playoff run where they reached the GHSA Class A-Public Final Four match.
Domaleski could not have been more pleased with the squad he was able to put on the pitch day in and day out.
“I’m immensely proud of our players who were selected but also slightly frustrated, because I felt like we had many more that could have been chosen,” Domaleski said. “Regardless, our players who were selected competed at an extremely high level and maintained that level of consistency throughout the season.”
Overall, the boys’ team finished 15-4 while the girls’ team ended the season at 9-9. Two successful seasons for two programs that return a good amount of talent back next season.
