The Lake Oconee Academy boys’ basketball team has a new head coach in Josiah Rechenbach.
Rechenbach was brought in to turn around a program that went 0-21 this past season.
LOA athletic director Chris Ingle is happy to have Rechenbach aboard.
“Coach Rechenbach brings a high level of excitement and enthusiasm to the LOA basketball program,” Ingle said in a press release. “He is very interested in the long-term development of our players. It will be exciting to see him put this passion to work in reinvigorating boys basketball at LOA. We know that our student-athletes, parents and community love basketball and will get behind his efforts.”
He has several years of experience after coaching throughout the southeast. Rechenbach brings in with him a total of 12 years of coaching experience.
He is best known for being the founder/co-founder of three successful travel basketball programs: the Atlanta Raptors, Mississippi Kings and Tennessee Wizards.
Most recently, he coached at Northbrook Middle School in Suwanee, Georgia.
Rechenbach was born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee, where he attended Fulton High School, playing for the highly accomplished coach Jody Wright.
He played collegiately for coach Kevin Hall at Johnson University (Tennessee), where he obtained a degree in Middle School History Education.
Rechenbach has an energized passion for the game, player development and sound fundamental teaching.
He has coached multiple players who went on to play the sport collegiately at all levels.
Rechenbach has been married to his wife Aria for eight years, who currently works at the University of Georgia.
LOA CEO Dr. Otho Tucker said that he hopes Rechenbach can help turn the program around.
“Coach (Josiah) Rechenbach is passionate about the game of basketball and developing players,” Tucker said in a press release. “We look forward to him beginning the process soon of teaching the game to the student-athletes of Lake Oconee Academy at all grade levels. He also brings solid teaching to the classroom, and we are excited that he is joining our staff.”
