Man menaces friends with gun; charged for terroristic threats

PUTNAM COUNTY

Several people called 911 when a friend pointed a gun at them and threatened to shoot up their house, according to law enforcement reports.

Putnam County Deputy Sheriff Hollie Collins responded to a residence on the 100 block of Friendship Road between 7 and 8:30 a.m., May 27, Sheriff Howard Sills said.

When Collins arrived, the gunman, who was identified as Sammy Lackey, had left the scene.

The five victims told Collins they were in the kitchen cooking, and Lackey was there with them. They noticed Lackey becoming agitated, and he began throwing items around the room as he and his girlfriend argued.

Lackey then stormed out of the house, and everyone else followed him because the girlfriend was worried he was going to shoot her dog. They said Lackey had a revolver in the waistband of his pants, according to Collins’ report.

As they stood on the porch attempting to get Lackey to calm down, he remained in the yard and reportedly told them he would not calm down until his girlfriend spoke with him. When Lackey said he was going to shoot up the house, four of his friends ran inside and called 911.

The one man who didn’t run inside, said he stayed outside to try to calm Lackey down. But Lackey pulled out his revolver and pointed it at the man’s head. The man moved behind a post on the porch, and Lackey moved to keep his gun trained on him.

Lackey was arrested later that day without incident, Sills said.

Sammy Wayne Lackey, 23, of Twilight Shores Road, is being held without bond in Putnam County jail on charges including two counts of felony terroristic threats and acts-family violence, two additional counts of felony terroristic threats and acts, plus one count of aggravated assault.
