Dr. Meigan Miller Family Dentistry is welcoming a new dentist Dr. Robert Johnson, to the team.

“The timing seems right for my dad to join the team,” said Dr. Miller. “I’m ecstatic that he is going to come up here and be a part of the team.”

Dr. Johnson is Dr Miller’s father and mentor. He has an extensive background as a dentist with over 40 years of practice and is an active member of the American Dental Association® and the Academy of General Dentistry.

“I have a family tie to this dentistry and I have practiced for 40 years and enjoyed every moment of it,” said Dr. Johnson. “I’m not ready to stop helping people. Meigan and I have talked about this for a couple of years and the time feels like it’s right. What father wouldn’t want to practice with his daughter?”

Dr. Johnson earned his associate degree from Albany Junior College, now known as Darton State College, in 1976 before attending the University of Georgia with a major in biochemistry. In 1982, Dr. Johnson graduated with honors from the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry. He was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honor society, which recognized the top six students in his graduating class.

After receiving his doctorate, Dr. Johnson would continue being awarded for his studious work in dentistry. In 1992, he was awarded Fellowship status in the Academy of General Dentistry. In 2003, that status was upgraded to Mastership. Both awards require a total of 1,100 hours of continuing education in all specialty areas of dentistry and rigorous academic examination in all the specialties of dentistry.

With such an extensive background, Dr. Johnson has a large skillset to offer to the dentistry team.

“I have years of experience and believe I can bring a lot of technical skills to the office. I have seen a lot and I know how to manage myself through situations,” said Dr. Johnson. “Each patient and situation is unique and I believe I can offer Meigan’s patients a more experienced outlook.”

Adding Dr. Johnson to the team, also allows more opportunities for collaboration. There will be someone in the office that employees can ask questions to in real time and collaborate with to offer better care.

“As we are growing very quickly, this addition to the team seemed like a good addition to open up additional hours and some times on Fridays for better quality care,” said Dr. Miller.

Dr. Meigan Miller Family Dentistry team will be offering some new hours and days for patient appointments with the new addition to their team. The dentistry is also currently looking into expansion opportunities that would allow them to have a bigger workspace and provide a larger quality of care to their patients.

“I am excited about being in the area. The community is growing and is very vibrant and the people are all very dentally aware,” said Dr. Johnson. “Having people who appreciate quality care is very exciting for me. It makes my job easier and allows me to provide services at a higher level.”
