Yeehaw! Spring has sprung and so has the time for good ‘ole rodeo fun. The 23rd Annual Greene County Pro Rodeo is just around the corner! Bring you, your family and friends to the covered Greene County Agricultural Center Arena, 1180 C. Weldon Smith Road in Greensboro for some rip-roaring rodeo action beginning at 8 p.m. April 22-23. Our annual pro rodeo is put on by Bubba Oubre Rodeo Company and brought to you by the Greene County Livestock Association and the Greene County Extension Service. Come witness tradition at its very best. Cowboys and cowgirls battling it out on horses and bulls as each grabs their toughest old west attitude to prove that they are the cream of the crop in their rodeo event. Kyle Layman, from Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, will be here to entertain you along with an amazing trick rider.
Hold on to your saddle horn – there’s more excitement –free events for children both nights! There will be a calf scramble for ages 12 and under, and the stick horse race for ages 2-3 years old and 4-5 years old.
Your taste buds are in for a smooth ride with concessions offering burgers, hotdogs, French fries, boiled peanuts, Frito pies, homemade goodies, funnel cakes, Mexican fare, canned drinks, sweet tea, lemonade, coffee and much more. Want to feel like a cowboy or cowgirl – you can rope a deal at the Cowboy Corner – boots, shirts, cowboy hats, toys and of course lariats!
Our annual rodeo is twofold – a fun night out for you and your family and a night you can be thankful for the fact that a portion of your rodeo ticket will go to the Greene County Extension, the Greensboro Fire Department, the Greene County FFA, the Cystic Fibrosis Association in honor of Holt Sapp, and the Southeastern Brain Tumor Association in honor of Brent Ogletree, Rachel Patrick Kinsaul and Bill Bryans. The proceeds also make it possible to have two Junior Rodeos every single year during the summer for the youth of the county and surrounding area.
