Southland Jubilee returns

After a two-year hiatus due to COVID, the city of Greensboro’s annual Southland Jubilee was held Saturday on the streets of downtown. Celebrated since 1998, the event attracts many to wander our historic streets enjoying a variety of local vendors, a car show and one of a kind art. It is a celebrated event and one that attracts many to our area.

Festival-goers enjoyed live entertainment throughout the day which highlighted talent from both schools and a local karate and dance academy on the central stage. Vendor wares included glazed pottery, beaded jewelry, specialty clothing, hand-made arts and crafts and colorful paintings. Food was plentiful throughout the day with many enjoying the traditional funnel cake and homemade churned ice cream.

The car show drew many automotive enthusiasts to see the lineup of motor cars, automobile models and out-of-production classics. Crowds were seen mulling over their favorite classics, discussing the engineering dynamics with the owners and reminiscing about earlier times with their favorite models. Greensboro firetrucks, ambulances and police vehicles were on display as well as personnel for special picture taking for both kids and adults.

The festival is possible due the support from many area businesses. It is produced by the Greensboro Better Hometown Development Authority with support from the city.
