The Crime & Wine experience has become the most popular event hosted by the Georgia Writers Museum, drawing well over 1,000 attendees across past gatherings held at the museum, Del Webb, Cuscowilla, and other venues.
The next installment — set for May 16 — is expected to be the largest yet. The event will take place at the Plaza Arts Center, beginning at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6 p.m.
Tickets are $45, or $40 each when purchasing two or more.
The evening will also serve as the launch of Law Enforcement Hall of Fame inductee Sheryl McCollum’s new book, Swans Don’t Swim in a Sewer.
In the book, a chilling and unprecedented case unfolds: when a serial killer’s daughter is brutally murdered, he turns to McCollum for help after law enforcement efforts stall. What follows is a complex investigation led by McCollum and the Cold Case Investigative Research Institute — including a daring strategy that uses the serial killer himself as bait to catch another killer.
McCollum is widely known for her appearances on Fox News, Nancy Grace, Court TV, Courtroom Insider, Zone 7, and numerous other programs. Her live presentations are known for being both gripping and deeply immersive, offering a unique experience each time.
Georgia Writers Museum audiences have even contributed to solving several previously unsolved cold cases. McCollum’s “murder box” presentations often include real artifacts, pieces of evidence, and police photographs, along with insights from witnesses, investigators, psychologists, and victims’ family members.
Known as “Mac,” McCollum is an Emmy Award-winning CSI from CBS46’s CSI Atlanta, a writer for CrimeOnline, and a forensic and crime scene expert for Crime Stories with Nancy Grace. She also serves as a CSI for a metro Atlanta police department.
She holds a master’s degree in criminal justice with an emphasis in policing and is co-author of the textbook Cold Case: Pathways to Justice, a leading guide in cold case investigations.
McCollum is also the founder and director of the Cold Case Investigative Research Institute (CCIRI), which brings together universities, students, researchers, and law enforcement professionals to advance techniques for solving cold cases and assist families seeking answers in homicide, missing-persons, and kidnapping cases.
