Dear Editor,
Enter the media-enhanced spat between the Pontiff and the President…
Here is where true Catholics are separated from the faux — those who believe the Pope is the Vicar of Christ on Earth, and those who instead worship a cult leader who lies and grifts and find it acceptable that he does so. Trump portrays himself as Christ, and when called on his blasphemous claims about what he “thought” was being portrayed… c’mon, even a 5-year-old knows better than to accept something that ridiculous.
Trump supporters say, “The Pope should stay out of politics,” or “The Pope should stay in his lane.” Really — is that how the GOP’s (un)faithful Catholics react to the Vicar of Christ quoting the Gospel and encouraging peace?
Now consider the “No New Wars” president, who has attacked Venezuela on false pretenses (Venezuela did not traffic drugs into the U.S.), bombed alleged drug boats, killing people without proof of his claims, and attacked Iran in an unauthorized war based on urgings and misleading information from a war-mongering Israeli leader. The Pontiff, meanwhile, speaks of peace — encouraging combatants to work toward it and invoking the Gospel’s teachings of love, respect, and compassion.
So go on with your “Trump is right” fantasy. Go on believing Iran was going to threaten us with a nuclear weapon. Go on believing what right-wing media and podcasters are telling you, and go on believing this is all “Biden’s fault.”
Meanwhile, you pay 30% more for fuel, 15% more for groceries, and watch your gas and electric bills creep higher… Sure, it’s all the Democrats’ fault, right?
As we’ve said before, prior to 2015, we didn’t have “fake news.” We didn’t have two-thirds of the country labeled as enemies or traitors. We didn’t have billionaires dictating policy or holding cabinet positions. We didn’t have a (suspected alcoholic) failed former soldier firing experienced general officers while simultaneously propagating an illegal war, or an FBI director disbanding an intelligence unit whose specific mission was to target the very country he’s waging war against.
Is this really what you believed you were voting for — incompetence and grifting at every level, and an internationally recognized clown show?
