Noted Atlanta-based photographer Matthew Georgia Demarko is presenting “In Awe of Existence: Photography’s Journey to the Sublime” on Sunday, March 8, at the historic auditorium of the Madison-Morgan Cultural Center.
The lecture begins at 4 p.m.
Demarko says his work is a collection of lifelong curiosity about both the human condition and the natural world that began when an art instructor, Ms. Nichols, challenged him to see the world thoughtfully.
“I was drawing things as I imagined them to be,” he said. “She changed the entire trajectory of my life.”
Still photography, he says, helped him focus.
“The more you pay attention to this world around us, the more you appreciate what we have to be grateful for.”
Photography, he says, “requires more attention than I ever imagined.”
The 90-minute presentation is free and open to the public.
