A serious accident at 3241 Lake Oconee Parkway on Highway 44 just south of the commercial district on Nov. 14 led to speculation that someone had been killed in a crash on social media sites, but that was not the case, according to authorities.
According to Sheriff Donnie Harrison of the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, a sedan traveling southbound on Highway 44 crossed over the centerline and collided with a tractor-trailer traveling northbound.
The driver of the sedan had to be extricated from the vehicle and treated by Greene County EMS personnel at the scene.
The injured person was transported to a hospital and was listed in stable condition as of Monday, Nov. 17.
The accident shut down one lane of Highway 44 for about two hours, according to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office.
