Letter to the Editor: Make America America again

Dear Editor,

I read with interest the response to comments made about “No Kings” protests throughout the country and the world, stating that “....I do hope that the protestors can do a better job of articulating exactly what is being protested instead of vague references to authoritarian/ fascist state.”

This said after her diatribe about “MAGA Cult members.” It is obvious she doesn’t know the reasons for the protest because she did not attend one. If she got her information from other than right-wing news, perhaps she would understand. The protestors did not need to be paid. Show me the receipts. (THIS is laughable!)

I would like to take the initiative to let her know why over 7 million people in the United States alone protested: We want sensible conversations, not attacks. Reason where there is none. Honest communication. No name-calling and made-up “crises.”

We want hands off: our rights, our bodies, and honest, hard-working immigrants; we want funding for: health care, NPR. PBS, libraries, schools, day care, social security, SNAP, museums, books, national parks; We want the occupation of our Democratic cities to end! We want: an adult for a president, a non-vindictive person, an individual who can work with both sides of the aisle, a person who gives us hope, not despair and fear, and the list goes on.

I know how we got here, but I don’t know where we’re going. But sooner or later we are all going to have to learn to talk to each other again and Make America America again.
