The East Georgia Concert Chorale invites music lovers to kick off Thanksgiving celebrations by attending “A Celebration of American Choral Music.”
This benefit concert will be held Nov. 25 at 7 p.m. at Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church (6341 Lake Oconee Pkwy.). The hour-long performance is free, and no tickets are required.
In the tradition of generosity in this season, volunteers from Lake Oconee Youth Alliance will be available at the conclusion of the concert to accept donations.
Lake Oconee Youth Alliance helps deserving youth in Greene and Putnam counties achieve their dreams, and one hundred percent of contributions will go to student scholarships.
The East Georgia Concert Chorale is a 25-voice ensemble directed by Dr. Brian Williams. This concert features a wide variety of choral masterpieces from “Kittery” by William Billings, composed in 1786, to “The Music of Living” by contemporary composer Dan Forrest.
A fiery spiritual by William Dawson, “Soon-Ah Will Be Done,” the stunning “The Last Words of David” by Randall Thompson, and the gentle “My Shepherd Will Supply My Need,” arranged by Mac Wilberg, are also on the program.
