The stories about the 600 CDC employees who were fired and the $50 million the two top teacher unions gave to the left-wing programs need to be examined to see if the BOE needs to take action.
First, the 600 jobs which were to prevent rape, child abuse, and teen dating violence would not have been in existence if teachers and parents were effective in teaching discipline and morals and ethics, which translates into respect for each other and our laws. In other words, law-abiding and hopefully well-educated citizens. It would also help to teach pride in the accomplishments of our multicultural, governed country, the only successful one (so far) in the history of mankind.
Which translates into dedication to the preservation of our Republic against our enemies, who are many.
In other words, well-educated and disciplined, morally centered, patriotic citizens. Hopefully, we are doing fairly well in this area, compared to others.
Secondly, what are teachers doing, allowing nationally oriented teachers unions (like the NEA, which GEA supports) to finance $50 million to left-wing political PACs? The NEA spends more of the dues on political left-wing PACs than on the teachers’ and students’ welfare.
What are teachers doing in what are, in effect, unions in the first place? A union of teachers within schools is, in effect, a foreign organization with its union management supposedly focused on teacher benefits rather than the goals of the school and its parents. The teacher’s loyalty should be to the students and parents, not supporting some union that should be spending $55 million on our children’s needs rather than left-wing causes.
Unfortunately, they may not be aware of this.
Perhaps the BOE should investigate the value of supporting GEA and other teacher associations to ensure our children’s future is not compromised. Interestingly, not paying dues to GEA would be a pay raise for the teachers.
