I was Navy. 1968-1972. Men and women with whom I served didn’t ‘game out,’ and in my honest opinion, neither did Tim Walz. None of us were suckers/losers but volunteered in a time when national service was honored and honorable (sadly somewhat tainted with our loss in Vietnam. The public response toward service people after that loss wasn’t exactly gratitude for individual sacrifice).
Walz is honorable, and what is NOT honorable is the disrespect shown by his GOP counterpart. JD Vance doesn’t honorably represent the Marine Corps nor any veteran with his political flips and flops nor with his ambitiously twisted Trump-speak. He certainly doesn’t represent America.
When is the GOP going to see the damage they do to themselves with this kind of strategy? They don’t have attractive policy proposals so they disparage an opponent’s military service? Call opponents names? Horse face? Little Marco? Are memories that short? Trump is a five-time draft dodger and prefers soldiers “who weren’t captured.” He calls them suckers/losers. Shake my disgusted head.
I’m just one veteran with one vote. But I’ll vote Harris/Walz and feel highly honored to have had some small part in protecting democracy in order to BE ABLE to cast a meaningful vote to again attempt to preserve freedom and democracy. Shame on the GOP and anyone who supports this kind of schoolyard tripe. We’re better than that.
