Dear editor,
Not too long ago, it was Joe Biden’s verbal slips that kept the nation on edge. Now, it seems Donald Trump has taken the baton, delivering gaffes at a relentless pace. Before we dive into his most recent misstep, it’s worth pausing to reflect on his decision to hold a second rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, shortly after an assassination attempt on his life and the tragic death of audience member Corey Comperatore in the same location. The choice feels as tone-deaf as a photo-op at Arlington Cemetery — an act that smacks of desperation for headlines and attention.
But let’s get to the latest gaffe. In what was meant to be a moment of remembrance for Corey, Trump remarked, “Corey had the best seat in the house.” Excuse me? Corey had the worst seat imaginable — the seat that placed him in the path of a would-be assassin’s bullet.
In a time of global crises, can we really endure four more years of Trump’s blunders and lack of tact? The world is teetering on the edge, and we need leadership that demonstrates awareness, sensitivity, and genuine concern for the American people. What we cannot afford is a leader more focused on photo-ops and headlines than on the welfare of the average citizen.
