Dear Editor,
I wish to submit a rebuttal to the Letter to the Editor last week from Peggy Perkins concerning her rightful opinion of Donald Trump and characterising him as the eternal pessimist concerning the state of our country. Most of us senior citizens can look back on what we think to be the most glorious days of our nation, of and after WWII when we literally rescued the entire world from the oppression of German fascism and Japanese imperialism and helped to rebuild in the aftermath. Unfortunately, 79 years later we are now faced with a far more sinister threat from within being the movement toward socialism in general, the very thing we fought against in that war.
It seems like in today's world you have to endure choosing your sex, killing babies, live off the taxpayer's dollar, the disintegration of the nuclear family, forced to drive electric cars, discard gas stoves, a weaponized justice system and crime tsunami, election irregularities and some of the highest inflation in history, all the while maintain our great optimism being destroyed by the worst administration in my long lifetime, not to mention our declining status on the world stage that did not happen during the previous administration! So we again have another chance to choose a very successful business man by the name of Donald Trump whose motto is “Make America Great Again,” which is the very theme Ms.
Perkins wrote about.
I am in wholehearted agreement about our countryman's talents and her 'Heck Yeah' attitude but what is so concerning to me is the progressive and socialist trend of recent years? The left is doing almost everything in their power to subvert those very qualities that made us great? They only want us to be under the thumb of a central government that can (and will) control our lives we call socialism!
I believe Donald Trump, a highly successful business- like leader who recognizes the Washington swamp, makes his own decisions and says what he thinks without a cue card and can think on his feet!
Yes, he can be caustic at times and as a relative of mine said before the last election “I don't like the way he tweets,” typical of the Trump haters and their superficial reasons not to vote for him.
Lastly, his criticism of the status quo is certainly justified and has a vision of a greater America which I for one would choose over the stumbling, bumbling laughing stock of the world that now masquerades as our president????
