Council breezed through the Thanksgiving week session in less than 18 minutes with Mayor Pro Tem David Neal running the meeting for Mayor Corey Williams, who was out of town.

Rutledge man arrested after throwing bike at woman

A Rutledge man faces charges of obstruction of a law enforcement officer and terroristic threats and acts after an incident in Madison near midnight on Nov. 11.
According to reports, an anonymous caller reported Desmond D. Harris, 33, was in the area of Morgan Circle making threats.

Fourth arrest made in Eatonton Shell station shooting

‘Miracle’ survival from crash with log truck

An Alabama woman who crashed into a log truck in Eatonton on Monday is miraculously back home, authorities say.
“She walked in here (Eatonton Police Department) today to pick up her (belongings) that were in her car, and I couldn’t believe it,” Chief Howell Cardwell said Tuesday.

Union Point man arrested after throwing fish plate at deputy

A Union Point man is in jail following a Nov. 7 altercation in which he threw a plate of food at a Greene County deputy.
Robert Latroy Briscoe, 41, now faces charges of littering, obstruction, probation violation, public drunkenness, and simple battery on a police officer.

Sewage, buzzards costs Greensboro $1 million

Piedmont Water fined for February spill at Reynolds

A $5,000 fine was levied against Piedmont Water, the major water and sewer utility company in Greene County, by the Environmental Protection Division (EPD) following an investigation into a major raw sewage spill that occurred in late February this year.
