Voting fraud charge lands man in jail

An Eatonton man is in jail facing voter fraud charges, according to authorities.Quirino Voncell Boles, 44, of Hudson Drive, was arrested and held in Putnam County jail on Feb. 27 on the charges of false swearing, voting by an unqualified elector or giving false information, and probation violation.

Public outcry shuts down zoning request

The Greene County Board of Commissioners voted Tuesday to halt the expansion of Lake Oconee Estates & Beach Club.In 2024, the BOC approved a zoning request from A1 to PUD for a 264-acre property near Veazey Connector, allowing the creation of 365 lots for the development.

A Morgan County restaurant that has been a local favorite for more than half a century is currently closed after a fire damaged the building last weekend.According to Morgan County Fire Chief Garrett Smith, firefighters responded to a structure fire call at around 11 p.m.

GBI asked to investigate shooting at Plantation Quail

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office has asked the GBI for assistance in the investigation of a shooting that took place this morning at Plantation Quail on Hwy 15 between Greensboro and Siloam. Preliminary reports say the victim was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
