Wild Jaeger Veteran Adventures (WJVA) held its second-annual fishing tournament hosted by Georgia Bass Trails and launched from Suger Creek Marina on Lake Oconee on Sept. 23.
The weigh-in was once again supervised by Mike Tarrer of Georgia Bass Trails.
For the second time, veterans “Uncle Bob” Vandine and Tommy Tarrer placed first with bass weighing a total of 12.29 pounds.
But Morris and Brandon Smith were close on their heels with fish weighing a total of 12.08 pounds.
Veteran Ben Carrick and Charlie Adams placed third with 11.29 pounds of fish, and Jamie Fountain and Tony Stevens finished fourth with 10.89 pounds of fish.
The father-daughter team of Sam and Grayson Porterfield also fished in the tournament and the youngest competitor in the tournament and her dad caught 5.24 pounds of fish.
Frank Adkinson of WJVA oversees the tournament for the organization that is dedicated to raising money for veteran’s programs.
Vets are allowed to enter the tournament at no charge and partner with a bass team as part of the competition. Veterans of all ages were signed up to attend the event and fish with an experienced angler.
