A special election will be held on March 18 to fill the Morgan County District 5 commissioner vacancy left by Bill Kurtz's recent resignation.
Qualifying will be held at the Morgan County Elections Office (237 N. 2nd St., Madison) from 9 a.m. on Jan. 29 to 1 p.m. on Jan. 31. The qualifying fee is $394.
Anyone who has not registered to vote and wishes to vote in the special election may register to vote until the close of business on Feb. 17.
Early voting will be held from Feb. 24 to March 14 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Morgan County Elections Office. Saturday voting will also be held on March 1 and March 8 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the elections office. On Election Day, polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. at the Buckhead Baptist Church precinct only, located at 1061 Parks Mill Rd.
If a runoff election is required, it will be held on April 15.
