A state prisoner is in Putnam County to face additional charges to the ones he is currently serving time for.
Andy Kirk Davis, of Riverbend Correctional Facility in Milledgeville, is now in Putnam County jail awaiting his appearance in Putnam County Superior Court, according to jail reports and Sheriff Howard Sills.
Putnam County Sheriff’s Office first learned of Davis when Butts County Sheriff’s Office detectives came to serve a search warrant in June 2020 at what was then Davis’ residence on Napier Drive.
“They had evidence that he had sold over 500 grams of meth there in Butts County, although I don’t know over what period of time the sales were,” Sills said.
Following the procedure, PCSO detectives accompanied their Butts County peers in the search and located “a trafficking amount” of methamphetamine in Davis’ house, Sills said.
“So, he went off to prison for Butts County and we had a hold on him because of the amount he had in his house here in Putnam,” Sills said. “He had a helluva record, so I wrote the recidivist notice up.”
Davis has been in prison since September 2020 for the Butts County drug sales. Prior to that, he has been incarcerated for selling methamphetamine, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and theft in Jasper, Butts, and Henry counties since 2014, according to Georgia Department of Corrections records.
After Davis’ current case is closed in Putnam County, he has active warrants in Newton County, according to Sills.
