Greene County deputies may have disrupted the prison contraband pipeline once again, which has been active in this area for quite some time.
After deputies found drones during a traffic stop on Nov. 23, Dakeyvious Jacorei Fountain, of 4615 Galleon Crossing, Atlanta, and Devonti Daquon King, of 2309 Sheryl Dr., Decatur, were arrested and charged with possession of tools for the commission of a crime, along with traffic offenses.
According to reports, Deputy Josh Corwin was patrolling near Siloam when he observed a grey Nissan traveling at approximately 60 miles per hour in a posted 30 miles per hour zone.
Corwin conducted a traffic stop, approached the passenger side of the vehicle, and saw a large drone commonly used to smuggle prohibited items into prisons.
Corwin then instructed the driver to exit the vehicle so that a search could be conducted. King and Fountain were both patted down for weapons, and King was found to have a holster for a Glock pistol.
King and Fountain were then placed in handcuffs and secured in the back of Corwin’s patrol vehicle.
During a probable cause search of the vehicle, Corwin found a large DJI 4 rotor drone with a homemade drop kit attached and all the drone’s marker lights taped up to conceal the lights, a tactic commonly used by those attempting to smuggle prohibited items into prisons, according to the report.
Corwin also found five drone battery packs, a DJI drone battery, and a mini drone with a controller in a black case that had a camera attached to it.
On the passenger side of the back seat floorboard, Corwin found two drone controllers and a loaded Glock 23 40-caliber handgun with one magazine and 11 rounds of ammunition. He also found three phones.
The vehicle was towed, and King and Fountain were transported to Greene County L.E.C.
Evidence collected was turned over to the Georgia Department of Corrections.
