The Greensboro Police Department has made an arrest in a stabbing incident that occurred June 6 at Morningside Apartments on MLK Jr. Drive.
According to reports, officers responded to the apartments in reference to a complaint of someone being stabbed on June 6.
The victim told Greensboro police officers that he was at another friend’s house drinking when an argument ensued with his friend, who was identified as Nekita Quatrez Peaks, 57, of Greensboro.
The complainant said he left to walk home, but that Peaks followed behind him threatening to kill him.
When the complainant returned home, he said Peaks entered his residence and continued to threaten him. The complainant said he went back outside in an effort to convince Peaks to go home.
According to the report, Peaks then pulled out two knives and charged at the complainant, causing two puncture marks in the chest area.
Officers couldn’t locate Peaks at the time of the complaint, but after speaking with witnesses, a warrant for aggravated assault was issued for him.
The next day, while officers were patrolling the area of MLK Jr. Drive, they found Peaks sitting on a porch on Canaan Circle.
Officers made contact with Peaks and placed him under arrest.
According to the GPD, Peaks became irate and began to yell and curse at officers. After being placed in the patrol unit, Peaks then spat in the arresting officer’s face and continued to threaten officers and yell racial slurs on the way to jail.
Peaks was served his warrant for aggravated assault and also charged with simple battery on a peace officer, disorderly conduct and terroristic threats.
