Eeyore, survivor of two hurricanes, rescued

LAKE COUNTRY

Eeyore, a sweet miniature mule, now resides in the loving care of Gary and Char Price, owners of PF Pet Rescue in Oglethorpe County.

Eeyore was a happy man living on a livestock farm in South Georgia when two hurricanes with embedded tornadoes struck and destroyed his home. Helene and Milton's devastating storms displaced hundreds of citizens and animals, and they lost their farms and houses.

The Prices were alerted by Heavens Way Farm to help in the effort to save the homeless animal victims.

Eeyore is only one of the lucky animals the Prices have welcomed to their farm, just outside of Athens. He was brought here in October by Heavens Way Farm, a livestock rescue transporter in Milan. PF Pet Rescue is on a notification list for special-needs rescues.

Gary Price reports, “We were notified of Eeyore’s need for a home and were blessed to create a pasture and paddock behind our house. His forever home is now with us, and we are honored and grateful to provide him with safety and love.”

Locally, PF Pet Rescue is well known for its efforts to foster animals, diagnosed with terminal conditions. The Prices have been actively rescuing animals for 12 years, working with local Humane Societies and other rescue organizations far away.

On one critical rescue, Gary traveled to New York to bring home Chanci, a Yorkie with terminal cancer. Recently, Char drove to Long Island to rescue Patches and Elote, two blind and deaf terriers. All have thrived in the loving safety of the PF pet menagerie.

The Prices have scores of interesting stories about their beloved rescues, including dogs, cats, cows, horses, and peacocks.
