GREENE COUNTY
The Greensboro Business Association (GBA) held its inaugural event in downtown Greensboro under sunny skies with visitors coming to the city from near and far.
Mardi Gras was celebrated through colorfully decorated storefronts and gift baskets to be won following a drawing held later.
Kirsten Thompson of downtown Greensboro’s Lake and Local is the organization's president, which is comprised of area businesses in the city's downtown sector.
GBA was formed to promote and enhance area businesses through economic development. The Mardi Gras event was meant to kick off their busy event calendar, which has several events scheduled in addition to the four occasions the city of Greensboro routinely plans and runs throughout the year.
“We were thrilled with the participation for our first event,” Thompson said. “It shows that downtown Greensboro and its business community has exciting opportunities to shop and spend a fun day exploring the city and all it has to offer.”
Upcoming events include a “Hop and Shop” with the Easter Bunny on Friday, April 1; a special Cinco De Mayo event on May 5; and “Stars, Stripes and Shopping” in July to celebrate the nation’s independence.
