The Greene County Commissioners meeting this month confirmed approval for two key developments in Greene County. Two expansive property approvals have been granted to Del Webb for 38 singlefamily homes and 10 single-family homes for Reynolds.
As part of the Homestead development, the Commissioners approved the final plat request presented by Oconee Land Development for the 42.25-acre parcel along the shores of Lake Oconee. The Homestead is comprised of 1,300 acres dotted with unique boulders among its landscape. Lots alone will start at $1.7 million. The Homestead will be comprised of a limited number of estate homesites to the Reynolds portfolio here in Greene County.
Pulte Home Company, parent company to the Del Webb community at Lake Oconee, saw final plat approval for 38 single-family lots on 17.5 acres at the expansive community. This Del Webb community continues to be a favored active adult community and is the only one of Pulte’s that offers direct lake access. Del Webb prides itself in making homeownership obtainable with resort amenities not otherwise available at affordable price points.
County Manager Byron Lombard pushed for approval of a final rental policy for the county’s livestock arena, located at 1180 C. Weldon Smith Drive. Approval was made for a flat rental fee of $200 per night. County Attorney Angie Davis had appealed to the Commission to confer and vote on a final policy to avoid any potential liabilities going forward. Other votes cast in the Commissioner’s meeting included authorization of contracts with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) for improvements at the Greene County Airport to include remarking of the runway, reimbursement of land acquisition costs, taxiway safety improvements and apron expansion.
The possibility of abandoning Thompson Town Road was up for vote and was approved for initiating legal steps to solicit input.
