A Morgan County woman is in critical condition at Grady Hospital in Atlanta after being assaulted by her son.

Dion Edward Turner, 24, of Buckhead, was arrested on Oct. 30 and faces charges of aggravated assault and aggravated battery following the incident.

According to Capt. Brandon Sellers of the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to 1821 Apalachee Woods Trail after receiving a report of an injured female.

When the deputies arrived, they found Wanda Lee Fraunfelter, 59, lying in the backyard of the residence.

According to the report, she was covered in blood and barely conscious.

Sellers said Fraunfelter had severe injuries to her face.

EMS and MCFR personnel were dispatched to the scene, and Fraunfelter was first transported to Morgan Medical Center before being life-flighted to Grady.

Deputies were able to get Turner out of the residence and took him into custody.

According to Sellers, Fraunfelter remained in critical condition as of the morning of Oct. 31, but her condition appeared to be improving.

Investigators are probing what factors may have led to the assault.
