The Plaza presents plenty of spring options

The historic Plaza Arts Center in Eatonton has some excellent upcoming opportunities to get out and enjoy the springtime.

First up is the Queen tribute band Kings of Queen this Saturday night (March 23), but a very limited number of tickets remain, so visit online at plazacenter.org to order now.

Sports fans should mark the calendar now for April 7, when the Old School History Museum will unveil its new Eatonton-Putnam County Sports Wall of Fame.

Dedicated to showcasing 11 local athletes and coaches who collectively have been enshrined in 29 major sports halls of fame, this brand-new attraction at The Plaza features hall of famers from football, baseball, basketball, track, golf, and skeet shooting.

Next, the Plaza Alliance for the Performing Arts (PAPA) will present its live stage performance of “Steel Magnolias,” a classic Southern tale of comedy and tragedy featuring an all-female cast. Performances are scheduled for April 19, 20, 26, and 27 at 7 p.m. and April 21 at 2:30 p.m. Tickets to “Steel Magnolias” are on sale now at plazacenter.org.

And back for the third year in a row, The Plaza is putting on a free community springtime celebration on April 27, with its annual May Day celebration taking place from 10 a.m. until noon.

There will be games, free treats, and plenty of free crafting activities for the entire family to enjoy. This event takes place on the lawn in front of The Plaza and promises to be a hit with everyone involved. Whether you’re looking for a rockin’ night of music, a little bit of sports history, a night out at the theater, or a free morning of crafts for kids, The Plaza has something for everyone to enjoy this spring.
