On Saturday, the picklers at Harbor Club held a Pickleball Palooza event for all their pickleball members. More than 40 people participated and the rules were simple: Participants were encouraged to turn up at least 20 minutes early to check in and warm up. bring lots to drink to prevent dehydration and a sense of humor for any questionable line calls.
Play comprised a number of games, and each player was given a schedule. Once on the court, players chose partners and waited for the whistle to start the match. The whistle would blow again to move to another court or have a bye. No scores were kept or prizes presented. The event was intended to be just for fun.
Following play, it was time to eat, and pickleball committee members Janet Reilly and Laura Shearer arranged pizzas that arrived on time from Marco’s. Assorted cookies were available for those wanting something sweet after their pizza.
Sue Hagen, Steele King and Sandra Sandling organized the annual September event and had the appreciation of its participants.
